Kelvin Hassell #13

You may already know me as the director of kettle operations and hammer swinging at AHM or as KunstSquad member and driver of the #13 Mat Newson Racing BriSCA F1 Stock Car, but you might not be familiar with the path that led me here, so here’s a bit about that.

(pssst! Be sure to check out my partners websites!>>>>>)

I started Karting in the Junior TKM class. I won my first novice championship at Buckmore Park and moved up to the Super One Series.546098_300272030054554_1899872990_nAt 16 I graduated from the Jim Russell Racing Driver School and promptly set Pole Position for my first Vauxhall Junior race at Donington Park. vjnr1

When it was time to start driving on the road, my Grandad bought me a Vauxhall Chevette Road Rally car which was my daily transport to college and my weekend rally car. I  returned to the circuits in the Modified Ford Saloon Car Challenge competing first in an XR2 and the following season in a Escort Cosworth. Copy of 222114_116972821717810_6512276_n

My oval racing career began in Baby Grands. 2/3rd scale NASCAR Late Models (Now called MASCAR) before moving up to the full sized CAMSO V8 NASCAR Late Models in Belgium 2 years later. There I helped Tony Roots found the European Late Model Series. I also instructed at the Roots V8 Racing Stock Car School. Check out some European Late Model action here, you can watch more from the Euro Late Models over on my YouTube page.

I tested an ARCA-Remax Series car at Rockingham in North Carolina as part of a TV show with Budweiser and, on the day I returned, went straight to the Netherlands to race on the newly built 1km oval at Venray. The first race ever to be held on the new track.

I’ve raced Sprint in the UK, here is some neat footage of us racing on the chalk at Horndean

I have even managed to compete in a Modified race at NASCAR’s All American Speedway in Roseville California. You can read more about that trip in my 6 part blogathon here

I have raced and driven many things in my career, both long and short track. A full breakdown can be found on the AHM Achievements page.  Also don’t forget to subscribe to our social media by clicking the appropriate link below, to stay up to date with the latest on our racing
